How a skin gets onto your character
Skins download in the pack that carries them, and a pack installs as one file. Open it with Minecraft and the outfits appear in the Dressing Room under Classic Skins, where you pick the one to wear. A skin you import stays on that device: it does not follow your account to a console or another phone, and some servers only show skins they trust.
