Fieldbench

What it does

Running out of chests halfway down a mineshaft means the long walk back to a crafting table. Hold the fieldbench and use it to open a short menu: a chest, a furnace, ladders, an iron pickaxe, an iron axe or a shield, made straight out of your inventory. It is not the whole crafting table, and it does not pretend to be: it makes those six things and nothing else. Each one costs exactly what it costs at a bench, so this saves you the walk rather than the materials.

How to use it

• ▸The menu marks an entry as missing until you are carrying everything it needs.
• ▸Planks mean oak planks here, so carry those if you want a chest or a shield.
• ▸Use the kit to open a menu of 6 recipes and make any of them from what you are carrying.

How to install

1. Open the downloaded file with Minecraft. It imports both packs on its own.
2. Edit your world and turn the add-on on under Behavior Packs.
3. Its resource pack turns on with it. There is no second pack to find.

Minecraft turns off achievements in any world with a behavior pack on, and warns you when you add one. That is the game’s rule for every add-on, not something this one does.
