What it does

Craft the parts from cherry planks, dark oak slabs, white wool and bamboo planks, then build with them. Raise cedar house posts on their stone pads, tie them together with cedar tie beams, and set stepped eave brackets under a deep slate tile eave that turns a corner and carries ridge tiles along the top. Fill the front wall with paper sliding screens, a painted sliding panel, a paper lattice window, a timber slat grille, a cedar plank door and a carved transom panel above it. Lay a cedar veranda deck along the outside with an edge step to sit on, put an entry step chest at the door, and cover the inside with straw mat floor, straw plaster walls and a cedar wall cupboard. Then light the garden with a stone lantern, hang a paper lantern under the eave, run a bamboo slat fence along the boundary and set stepping stones to the door.

The entry step and the wall cupboard hold 27 stacks each: use one while holding a plain stick to put away every stack in your main inventory, or with anything else to take them back. Your hotbar is never touched, and breaking a storage piece drops everything inside it. Use either lantern to switch it off and on again, and a paper sliding screen to show the next of its 3 papers. The floor cushion and the veranda edge step seat 1 player each; crouch to stand up. These are parts to build with, not a finished house: nothing is placed for you, no building appears in your world, and the doors, screens and panels are solid blocks that don't slide, open or let you walk through. A seat is not a spawn point, pistons can't move seats or storage pieces, and the lanterns light a room but cook nothing. Every piece turns to face you when you place it and drops itself when broken.

  • 24 house parts placed by hand, each facing 4 directions when you place it
  • 2 switchable lanterns, a stone garden lantern at light level 14 and a paper lantern at 13
  • 2 storage pieces holding 27 stacks each, the entry step and the wall cupboard
  • 3 papers on the sliding screen, and 2 seats holding 1 player each
  • Straw plaster wall, straw mat floor and slate roof tile blocks, 4 from one craft

How to install Japanese House Parts

  1. Import the .mcaddon, then turn on both packs in your world's settings (Behavior Packs and Resource Packs). No experiments are needed. Needs Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.45 or later.
  2. Craft each part at a crafting table. A recipe appears in the recipe book once you pick up its main material: cherry planks for the veranda deck, posts, door, transom, sliding panel, eave bracket, entry step and cupboard, dark oak slabs for the eaves, corner eave, ridge and roof tiles, tie beam, veranda edge step, stepping stones and stone lantern, white wool for the sliding screen, paper window, paper lantern, floor cushion and plaster wall, and bamboo planks for the slat fence, slat grille and straw mat floor.
  3. Each part faces you when you place it, so stand on the side its front should face. Hang the paper lantern under a ceiling or an eave, and place the eave, corner eave and eave bracket against the wall they overhang. To turn a part later, break it and place it again.
  4. Use a part (right-click on Windows, tap on touch screens) to work it: switch the stone lantern or the paper lantern, show the next paper on a sliding screen, or sit on the floor cushion or the veranda edge step. Crouch to stand up from a seat.
  5. Hold a plain stick and use the entry step or the wall cupboard to store the stacks in your main inventory. Use it with an empty hand or any other item to take them back; whatever doesn't fit stays inside.
  6. Crouch when you place a block against a part, so you don't use the part instead.
